The RIO
theater in Monte Rio is for Sale.!!
let me remind you that it’s still red-tagged
from the last flood; and that it is owned by
a SF techno combine of dozens that tried
to run things, from a distance, for a while, but
soon gave up.
The Rio
has been growing cob-webs for years.
The
State plans to build/erect a new bridge
right next door, adjacent property in 2021-3,
creating the need to support two bridges for
a significant period of time; possibly even
making the triangle a round-about, or a
four-way traffic light system.
Now back
to RIO theater being for Sale.
Seems to
me, the State should buy it.
For the State
bridge project, it could be a cheap parking lot, under a million
[SF guys paid half of that a few years ago].
The lot would
be home for all the bulldozers,
earth movers, pile drivers, and assorted heavy machinery
that would otherwise
clog the streets of Monte Rio. Not to mention
porta-potties, and management trailers.
The rusting
steel Quonset hut could easily
be moved to an historical location,
the
rest razed to the ground.
After
the bridge is built, the State could
sell or
rent the lot to Sonoma County
for
some worthwhile purpose.
